A Memorable Character

How pleased I was to hear that our topic was to be ‘A Memorable Character.’ How exciting to realize that I now had the opportunity of sharing with you my recollections of a man who had such an impact and influence on my life.

I don’t exactly recall when I first met what’s-his-name.

He was the kind of man whose appearance you never forget. His height was average, his weight normal, his posture what you’d expect from a man of his questionable age. But it was his face - his face which is so indelibly detailed in my mind’s eye.

His hair, well combed, had an unkempt appearance. His blue-grey eyes (actually more hazel hued), seemed to stare directly into you, even though he was slightly cross-eyed. His nose, his most dominating feature - was so short that he carried the nickname ‘No-Nose.’ - Or was that ‘Knob-Nose’ - or ‘Nub-Nose’?
His complexion was swarthy, yet pale.

The events which have etched his memory so vividly into my susceptible psyche are probably all too well known to you. I won’t bore you by repeating them here.

It should be sufficient to recall, with blurred sharpness, with unfocused clarity, with undefined detail, with diffuse specificity, the memorable character of this man.

I’ll never forget him!
